- Most common reasons for becoming homeless - addiction (which is a mental health issue in itself), mental health issue, family breakdown (abuse - physical, sexual, neglect), lost a job, end of relationship, grief, unable to pay rent, health, financial issues, mental health issues. 

- Mental Health: 3/4 homeless people have mental health issues before becoming homeless - Depression and anxiety most common. Statistically mental health will deteriorate further when becoming homeless. - 1 in every 2 who dont have mental health issues before becoming homeless will develop mental issues when on the streets.

Statistics offered on Homelessness that paint the picture: 

- Over 8,000 people homeless in Ireland today. 

- Over 4,000 of those are young people single people who are not part of a family unit. 

- In December 2019 X3 families a day were becoming homeless. 

- There over 180,000 vacant dwellings in Ireland (Ill let you do the maths - 0ver 8,000 homeless and over 180000 vacant dwellings). 

- 3000+ are people availing of emergency accommodation in Dublin. 

- If you do become homeless and avail of emergency accommodation you are very likely to come in contact with drugs, theft, bullying and violence.
